In another landmark intervention aimed at transforming education through technology, the lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, has launched the Remi Oseni Smart Learning Intervention (ROSMA) Legacy Programme, a bold initiative that introduces Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered learning hubs across Oyo South Senatorial District.
The programme, unveiled in Ibadan on Thursday alongside the commissioning of the first phase of the ROSMA Smart Learning Hubs, is designed to bridge the digital divide by equipping secondary school students with future-ready skills in Artificial Intelligence, coding, robotics, digital literacy, and innovation.
The learning hubs will also provide structured academic support for candidates preparing for key examinations, including WAEC, NECO, and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), ensuring students combine academic excellence with practical digital skills.
Speaking during the launch, Hon. Oseni stressed that the future belongs to societies that invest intentionally in education and technology, adding that conventional learning alone is no longer sufficient in today’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
“This programme is not just about providing support; it is about creating opportunities. We want our students to understand Artificial Intelligence, embrace innovation and develop the confidence to compete globally. Every investment in a child today is an investment in a stronger and more prosperous society tomorrow,” he said.
According to the federal lawmaker, the ROSMA Legacy Programme reflects a long-standing commitment to educational development rather than a new political initiative. Over the years, he has consistently invested in scholarships, bursaries, free WAEC and JAMB registrations, entrepreneurship programmes, and digital skills training, positively impacting thousands of young people across Oyo State.
As part of the programme, Hon. Oseni also announced the proposed ROCOF Royal Ambassadors Initiative, a platform that will celebrate outstanding students, innovators, entrepreneurs and youth leaders who distinguish themselves through excellence, integrity, creativity and community impact. The initiative is expected to inspire more young people to pursue academic success and leadership.
Looking beyond his current constituency, Hon. Oseni reiterated that his aspiration to represent Oyo South Senatorial District in the Senate is driven by a desire to scale these interventions across all nine local government areas. He assured residents that programmes such as free WAEC and NECO registrations, JAMB sponsorships, scholarships, AI education and digital empowerment initiatives would become more accessible throughout the district.
Project Director of the ROSMA Legacy Programme, Dr. Demilade AkinAlabi, described the initiative as a strategic investment in the future of Oyo South, noting that digital literacy is becoming as essential as traditional education.
He disclosed that five of the proposed nine Smart Learning Hubs have already been completed in Eruwa, Agbadagbudu, Ido, Oke-Ado and Oja’ba, while work continues on the remaining centres.
According to him, the facilities are designed to go beyond providing computers and internet access. They will serve as innovation centres where students, artisans, farmers and small business owners can receive practical training in coding, Artificial Intelligence, digital marketing, data analysis and other employable digital skills.
“Our vision is simple. A child’s future should never be determined by where he or she was born. These hubs are more than computer centres—they are innovation spaces where ideas will flourish, talents will be discovered and future leaders will emerge.”
Hon. Oseni concluded by encouraging students to remain disciplined, embrace technology as a solution to real-world challenges and dream beyond their immediate circumstances. He noted that the ultimate goal of the ROSMA Legacy Programme is not only to improve examination performance but also to nurture a generation of confident, innovative and globally competitive young people capable of driving the future of Oyo South and Nigeria.
