More than 7,000 farmers in parts of Oyo State have received farming support materials under an agricultural empowerment initiative facilitated by the lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Engr. Aderemi Oseni.

The programme, held in Ibadan, saw beneficiaries receive a range of farm inputs and equipment intended to improve productivity during the current farming season and ease the financial pressure faced by local farmers.

Oseni said the intervention formed part of broader efforts to strengthen food production at the grassroots level and encourage greater participation in agriculture among young people and rural communities.

The federal lawmaker noted that the latest distribution followed an earlier intervention involving the supply of six truckloads of fertiliser to farmers across Ibarapa East and Ido local government areas.

According to him, improving access to essential farming materials remains one of the most effective ways to tackle food shortages, lower market prices and stimulate economic activities in rural communities.

He added that ongoing investments in rural road rehabilitation and agricultural support programmes were designed to ensure farmers can cultivate larger areas of land and transport produce to markets with fewer challenges.

Oseni used the occasion to express optimism about the political future of President Bola Tinubu, maintaining that the administration’s reforms would continue to attract public support ahead of the 2027 elections.

He argued that recent policy measures and infrastructure investments would position the government favourably with voters seeking continuity and long-term economic stability.

The lawmaker also pledged to intensify mobilisation efforts across Oyo State in support of the President’s re-election ambition and encouraged citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards in preparation for the next electoral cycle.

Traditional rulers and community leaders present at the event praised the initiative, describing it as a practical contribution towards improving agricultural output and supporting livelihoods within the constituency.

Beneficiaries were urged to make effective use of the materials provided in order to maximise yields and contribute to efforts aimed at improving food availability across the country.
